主讲人简介:劳拉·哈蒙德教授是伦敦大学亚非学院(SOAS)研究与知识交流副校长,同时担任发展研究教授。她拥有美国威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校的人类学博士学位,自1990年代初以来,长期从事非洲之角地区的研究,重点关注埃塞俄比亚和索马里。她的研究领域涵盖粮食安全、冲突、强迫迁移和侨民问题。1993年至2000年间,她曾在埃塞俄比亚生活和工作,担任联合国埃塞俄比亚紧急事务处的研究员。

Introduction to the Speaker: Professor Laura Hammond is the Pro-Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange and Professor of Development Studies at SOAS University of London. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since the early 1990s, she has conducted extensive research in the Horn of Africa, particularly focusing on Ethiopia and Somalia, with interests in food security, conflict, forced migration, and diasporas. From 1993 to 2000, she lived and worked in Ethiopia, serving as a researcher for the UN Emergencies Unit for Ethiopia.
Professor Hammond leads several major international research initiatives, including serving as Team Leader for the Research and Evidence Facility of the EU Trust Fund for Africa and Co-Director of the Poverty and Inequalities Work Package for the Migration for Development and Equality (MIDEQ) Research Hub. She also heads the Migration Leadership Team at the London International Development Centre (LIDC). Additionally, she is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and chairs the UK's Independent Advisory Group for Country Information.
Her notable publications include This Place Will Become Home: Refugee Repatriation to Ethiopia and Researching Violence in Africa: Ethical and Methodological Challenges (co-edited). She has also authored numerous articles in leading top-tier international academic journals.
